Will they make it a winning Wembley visit this time? The first 10 minutes of this half have been absolutely breathless. Both teams are playing at mph.
The Australian has done so much to make this Saints side one of the most entertaining teams of the modern era and they finished the regular season a record 16 points clear at the summit.
The lingering question was, of course, could they complete the job by emerging victorious in their first Grand Final since ?
They could, and deservedly so, and an emotionally fraught Holbrook was left beaming with pride at the end of his final game in charge. He will now head home to take charge of NRL side Gold Coast Titants and can reflect on his tenure with great satisfaction. Saints were a shambles when Holbrook arrived to take control in May after club legend Keiron Cunningham had been sacked.
The year-old's side lost the Challenge Cup final against Warrington two months ago, but they did not choke this time. We had to do it when it counted most and we did.

I'm just happy that we finally got what we worked so hard for. Certainly St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus will hope this sixth Super League title is the start of another dynasty for one of British rugby league's most successful clubs.
Holbrook saw prop Luke Thompson win the Harry Sunderland Trophy as man of the match after an outstanding minute shift. Therefore the players deserve so much credit. The Red Devils battled gamely throughout and could perhaps feel aggrieved that a number of calls went against them.
Saints extend their lead in style!
Coote converts. Four minutes later, Salford appeared to have fashioned the perfect response when Tui Lolohea weaved his way through a statuesque St Helens defence to score, only for referee Chris Kendall to deem that Red Devils hooker Logan Tomkins was guilty of obstruction and no try was awarded.
But with newly-crowned Man of Steel Jackson Hastings exerting a growing influence on proceedings, Salford were finally off the mark in the 32nd minute. Hastings found space inside the left channel and sentf centre Jake Bibby bursting clear to score a try which Krisnan Inu converted to make it at the interval.
A moment of controversy arose shortly after the restart when Inu was tackled and St Helens forward Jack Ashworth appeared to throw his head into the Salford winger as he hit the ground. Inu required treatment but was given the green light to continue and no action was taken against Ashworth.
There was also concern among the St Helens ranks after prolific winger Tommy Makinson took a knock to his shoulder but, despite his apparent discomfort, he soldiered on.
In the 49th minute, England centre Mark Percival took it upon himself to restore Saints' two-try advantage with a quite magnificent effort. Collecting possession inside the left channel, he sent a teasing grubber kick behind the Salford defence and had the pace and presence of mind to advance forward and ground the ball under the posts at the Stretford End.
It was a particularly sweet moment for Percival, a boyhood Manchester United supporter, and Coote's third successful conversion made it to Holbrook's side. Coote added two penalties before Makinson landed a drop-goal to cap a thoroughly-merited victory in front of a crowd of 64, But they were the better side, more fluent, more skilful and stronger in contact.
Nonethless Salford battled gamely and were terrific for 15 minutes in the first half. Saints have won the Grand Final, the first league leaders to do so for four years.
But Salford hold them at 20m after the sixth and Evalds makes a fine burst forward, zigging and zagging 20m. For a foul move on Makinson from offside.
Coote calls for the tee and bends it in from left of centre from 30m. Welham gets there first to tip it back but Taia reads his intentions and falls on the ball. Should have had a penalty, instead Saints have a scrum.
Lussic takes the tap on the 10m line. Walmsley and Amor concede the penalty by slowing it down after the first tackle.
